Sex trafficking statistics
- Under US federal law, all children involved in commercial sex are victims of human trafficking. Sadly, only about half of US states have laws that protect sexually exploited children from being prosecuted for prostitution.
- Sex trafficking is not just a women and girls issue. About 15% of those in our US survivor care have been boys and non-binary youth.
- Traffickers can look like anyone and don’t fit one stereotype exploiters have been family members, peers, romantic partners, educators, employers, community leaders, and clergy.
- Sometimes youth continue going to school, living at home, and participating in extracurricular activities – even while they are being trafficked.
- In 2018, over half (51.6%) of the criminal human trafficking cases active in the U.S. were sex trafficking cases involving only children.
- Predators can rent a child for a single sex act for an average of $90. Often, that child is forced to have sex 20 times per day, six days a week.
- New studies show that 83% of child trafficking victims in the U.S. are Americans.
- On average, a child enters the U.S. sex trade at 12 to 14 years old.
If a two-week-old fetus is considered a life and must be protected, why is no one protecting the children that are already here from unspeakable acts? Because they do not care about children or a two-week-old fetus. They just want more children in this country to sell and make money off of. 83%, and no one is talking about it. It truly breaks my heart to know how many children in this world are being trafficked and sold. And I am genuinely sorry to anyone who has experienced this firsthand. That is why I want to bring awareness to sex trafficking with my book. And to anyone who needs to talk to someone. https://rainn.org/resources And to anyone who has no place to go visit https://www.1800runaway.org I wish healing over everyone in any sexual assault or trafficking situation
